‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2’

***NO SPOILERS***

So, I’m a HUGE fan of Marvel movies!! My favorites are Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America and The Avengers. So you can guess how much I was waiting for this new movie : Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2Some people told me they even preferred this one to the first one! I was SO CURIOUS and IMPATIENT and EXCITED!!!

And I loved it!!! Okay, I still prefer the first one, because I ALWAYS prefer first ones, when we discover new characters and universes. But this one was great too!

Visually, it was reaaaaally beautiful! There are so many beautiful shots, so bright and colored and so wonderful! Oh and I’m not even speaking about the beauty of the cast :p #ChrisPratt

The visual effects are just awesome, there isn’t any other word for it.

The story was a little bit too long to really take place, I think. The whole Ego story-line was really good but it arrives after too long in the movie. And all the scenes before that were kind of useless to me, because they mostly explored relations between some characters and feelings that we already knew/guessed in the first movie. It was kind of just highlighting things we had already understood by ourselves. Maybe I saw the first one too many times, and maybe a regular spectator wouldn’t already knew all this, but it should have been shorter anyways.

And this second movie has so much more humor! It is really funnier. I loved that about it. Drax was fantastic! And Baby Groot so cute!

This is all I’m going to say about it because I need to watch it a second time to really be able to speak about it scene after scene, and really analyse it. And I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone!

If you like Marvel and more precisely Guardians of the Galaxy, please run to the theater to watch it (if it’s not already done!)!

Beauty and the Beast – Movie

I went through so many feelings waiting for this movie. First I was bewildered when they announced it. Why make it? Then freaking happy when they announced the cast (because I love them all hahaha). Why not make it? Then dreading its release. Afraid of not loving it, since the first Disney version is one of my favorite movie of all time. Then excited. A new version of one of my favorite Disney of all time!! Then jaded. Why make this new movie since the fist one already was perfect? Anyway. Let’s talk about it.

I finally saw it. And it was fine. I can’t tell that it’s a revolution, because let’s be honest, it’s the perfect copy of the first one. But it’s well played, they all sing so well, the costumes and production design are great, there’s almost nothing wrong with it. It’s nice. And well done enough for me to have chills for the important scenes (the ball scene -obviously- and when Gaston take the whole village with him to go kill the Beast).

But…cause yes, there’s a ‘but’.

It’s almost too much.

Okay, yes, the casting is really good. Emma Watson is great. She portrays Belle so well I’ jealous, because like Emma, Belle was my favorite Disney female character when I was a child (who am I kidding… She still is!). She sings so well, and it’s nice to see her ‘play’, because sometimes I can’t separate her from Hermione Granger because she always plays the same way. But here I didn’t have any problem, so I guess it’s because she was good. The whole casting is great, really! Luke Evans plays a Gaston so great and handsome that I couldn’t really hate him, and Dan Stevens was great too as the Beast. I could actually recognize him sometimes, in the close ups. And his voice too. Every voice was nice too. I particularly loved Emma Thompson playing Mrs Potts, but I’m biased because she’s so awesome in general. Oh and Ewan McGregor’s French accent was priceless!

BUT. I really didn’t like Beast’s visual. Te close ups were okay though, because we didn’t see him entirely. I also didn’t really like all the living objects, but since I thought I would hate them, I think it was okay.

I’ll get more into details in the next part, so keep out if you don’t want to know too much…

***SPOILERS***

I didn’t like Belle’s father ; it’s so sad they didn’t kept the craziness of her father in the original movie. Why did they change it? Does it means that being a little crazy is not okay nowadays? I loved the crazy plump version way more. This one was a little…flat.

But in the other hand I really like the magic in this new version. It was already here in the first one, because the objects were living but that’s all. It’s more present here, we see more of it, with the wardrobe costumes, the whole “Be Our Guest” scene, and when the living objects become real objects and stop being humanized.

The added scenes were…well I don’t really know. I would like to say it was useless, since they perfectly copied the first one, why add this? But I could also say that this is a good thing not to stick perfectly to the first version. Anyway, I didn’t like the Paris scene, where we learn how Belle’s mother died, cause it is so far from the first movie, to me it’s not in the original story. It is created something new. And I think you have to decide if you want to make the perfect same one or if you want to change it. I’m okay with both separately, but not mixed like that. This is weird.

I still don’t really get why they wanted to make the original version a live version though. I accept the idea of it when make a remake add something to it, like with the new visual effects we have today and didn’t have years ago. But here, it doesn’t really add anything. Even by trying to add new scenes, it just looks out of it to me.

Since I don’t want to conclude on a bad note, because, again, I liked it. People were applauding at the end. I would go that far though. I will say that for a girl who loves Disney and Beauty and the Beast for so long, seeing this new version in real live action is anyhow great, and gives goosebumps anyway.

And the little references to Harry Potter (like, “I don’t remember what I’ve forgotten” or even better “The Fat Lady is about to sing“) were very appreciable too 😉

Oh and I forgot to talk about LeFou being gay, which a lot of people and countries didn’t like and agree with. Get over it! It’s not even a big deal in the movie, we could almost say that it’s just suggested. It doesn’t really change the character from the original one, so I don’t see why it should be a problem. After all, the whole message of this story isn’t that love is in the inside? We should love whoever we want, whatever the appearance.

Rogue One – A Star Wars Story

I love cinema. I always have. Star Wars was one of the first saga I loved, since I was a little child. Episodes IV, V and VI were my favorites (no kidding!), my first hand-made cosplay was Leia (I was 15 maybe?), I wanted to be a Jedi like Luke and have sarcasm like Han… I only saw Episode III on the big screen, I was really young and I don’t really remember. So when Episode VII was announced, let’s say that I was pretty excited! But then, they announced Rogue One, and THIS was the story I wanted to know. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked The Force Awakens. But Rogue One spoke to me, to the child inside me. For a few years, I consider myself more of a Rebel than a Jedi, so this movie was perfect!

The first time I went to watch Rogue One, I was so exhausted I slept for like 10-15 minutes? It’s a shame, I know, trust me I’ll always blame myself for it haha But the most important part of it is that I slept during all the exposure, so I didn’t totally get the rest of the movie. But since I liked it anyway, I went to see it a second time. And this time…this time… It was love. Really love.

I loved everything about it! The story, the characters, the costumes and the music… The first time I thought Jyn was the main character and I loved her, but then I understand Cassian’s
character, and again, it was love, I’m telling you! The Easter eggs and all the references were nice, but what I loved about this movie was his independence.

***SPOILERS***

The movie starts in the middle of something. It changes from all the movies we see with the big long first sequence made for the public to know the characters and the story. Here, we are dived in something that has already began. We follow Jyn Erso whose family is drag away from her. She lost her mother and his father is taking by the Empire to work for them. She hides herself and is eventually found by a family friend, Saw Gerrera. But she grow up to be imprisoned and reject. She has no life, no friends, no purpose. And then one day, she’s rescued by a Rebel squad who wants her to get in touch with Saw Gerrera, who is a extremist rebel who may have information they want. She accepts.

So, here’s what I like about this : she is not a Rebel by conviction, at first. It’s just convenient because they promise her freedom. But then, she’ll understand what they’re doing, and why, and she becomes part of it and leads them and saves them. She saves the whole galaxy.

We also have Captain Cassian Andor’s character ; he’s the Rebel who took her to the Rebel HQ. He’s also the one who will do the mission with her. At first, he doesn’t trust her, because she’s a fugitive and most of all she the daughter of a really bad man, who works for the Empire. But after a while, he sees her, and understands that she’s not what he thought. She has a good heart and just want to save her father. To me (I say this because I know it’s not everybody’s opinion), he falls for her little by little.

I love their relation, because at first she doesn’t trust him either, even less when he tries to kill her father. But they both have lived a lot before they met, and their past is haunting them.

Jyn’s father was building the Death Star, a weapon huge enough to destroy a whole planet in one shot. But in secret he created a loophole to destroy it. He was a good guy after all, he just made his best to protect his family. Cassian and Jyn manage to get the plans to destroy the Death Star but in the same time, the Empire understand their plan and destroy the planet they’re on. In the end, they sacrifice themselves to save everyone. And they end in each other’s harms after saving each other times and times. Jyn has finally found a new family with Cassian and the Rebels, and all their friends from this adventure : Chirrut and Baze, Bodhi the Pilot, and even K-2SO.

The whole Rogue One team dies.

I cryied.

So much.

At the end of the movie, we see that Leia gets the plans, and this is the prelude for Episode IV, in which the Rebels will destroy the Death Star thanks to those plans.

I like how this movie is not about the Force and the Jedi, for once, but more about the Rebels and Hope and Forgiveness. Specially in the time we live today. We need Hope and to know that a few can change a lot. “Make 10 men feel like 100” said Cassian.

Also, to conclude, I have to admit that I also love Cassian because he’s played by Diego Luna, who is so cute and a great actor, and his Mexican accent and smile are really yummy! That’s it, I’ve said it! I mean, I fell in love with his Funko Pop figure before I even saw his real face haha
